Hi,

We will translate certainly bxe 2 in french, but I don't see a translation
file, all english messages are in source code.
It's possible that you create a separate file with all messages in bxe ? With
this, it's possible to translate and add easily languages in bit flux.
a default lang option will be added in config.xml.
I can help to realize this task.

Thanks you very much for your response.

The question is just, how do we want to integrate it? Just a large
array, which is called? Some XML file? Any suggestion?

We certainly can do it, I just don't know the right and best way right now.

What about using the same schema you already use for i18n in the CMS?

However: That'd be a great feature to have, if we could afford the
(presumably rather big?) effort we would have bought it a long time
ago :-)

Would make sense. It's stolen from cocoon anyway :)

- Write a library which does the actual translation
- Search all strings, replace them with the method calls from the library
- Translate

Not that hard, just labour...

Maybe use this, or use xml file convert on javascript file with php.
you choose the method :-)

If it's xml file, I can create php file to convert.
Else, I'm consent to search all strings, replace them with the method calls
from the library and translate in french.

Hi

Ok, I added i18n support for BXE. The Class is there, but not much more
(read: The needed additions to the JS code and the translations itself
are still missing)

Read http://wiki.bitfluxeditor.org/BXE_2.0/i18n for more details

It's now your turn :)

Hi,
We will translate certainly bxe 2 in french, but I don't see a
translation file, all english messages are in source code.
It's possible that you create a separate file with all messages in bxe ?
With this, it's possible to translate and add easily languages in bit
flux. a default lang option will be added in config.xml.
The question is just, how do we want to integrate it? Just a large
array, which is called? Some XML file? Any suggestion?
Maybe we use a javascript array with two dimensions :
text["welcome_on_bxe"]["fr"] = "Bienvenue dans BitFlux Editor";
each language is in separate javascript file.

a XML language file is also possible, but maybe it's much slow that a basic
javascript array ? I don't know it's fast to convert a xml file to javascript
array.
How language problem have resolved in bitflux CMS ?
In free software, .po files are used to translate applications.

Why 2 dimensions, if you put each language in a seperate file? You
should only the file/language you need.

We would access that via xpath, don't know about speed, we would have to
test it with large enough datasets. XML is basically just easier to edit
(IMHO), than direct JS arrays.

Another solution would be to provide a converter from the XML to native
JS script. That's easily be done in PHP or your preferred language.

with the i18n class. Here's some info

*Some* free software uses .po :) But that doesn't help here, since the
browser do not understand .po. And it's IMHO not that easy to
edit/generate po files, if you never did it.
